New DC generators drive more efficient solar cell production

HUETTINGER presents the TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW

Solar cell manufacturers are pursuing two primary goals worldwide: reducing production costs and improving the efficiency of solar cells. HUETTINGER Electronic will present its new generation of water-cooled DC generators to support manufacturers in achieving these goals at Intersolar North America, to be held from July 13 to 15 in San Francisco. The TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW, which is intended for sputter processes in solar cell manufacturing, facilitates thin and homogenous layers, even in high-arcing processes like TCO sputtering. This means that it not only increases the processing time with minimal scrap, it also offers an affordable alternative to pulsed generators because it provides for excellent layering with considerably reduced investment costs.

Interested visitors can learn more about the new product family at the HUETTINGER booth as well as at the Innovation Exchange, a trade show venue highlighting trends and new products in the photovoltaic industry, including the TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW. The Innovation Exchange accepts products that were nominated for the Intersolar Award 2010 like the new development from HUETTINGER. Jacob Abraham, sales and application engineer at HUETTINGER, a featured speaker at the show, will discuss how the TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW can ease the production process for solar cell manufacturers.

Impressive technical features

Yet what makes the TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW so special? Mainly it's the system's innovative arc management system. HUETTINGER has once again improved its proven CompensateLine arc management system especially for these generators. If an arc occurs, the new CompensateLine balances the stored energy in the output circuit as well as in the connection cable between the generator and the cathode even more efficiently. This results in a very fast generator response time on the arc and keeps residual energy to a minimum, making optimal layer qualities possible even during high-arcing processes. CompensateLine also ensures that the arc energy doesn't simply escape. Energy instead feeds back into the generator and is used in the process, producing two simultaneous benefits: First, the generator is considerably more energy-efficient than air-cooled process power supplies. Second, the generator emits less heat which reduces the risk of the machine overheating.

An added benefit is the complete water-cooling system in the TruPlasma DC Series 3000 NEW, which contributes to the generator's compact design and makes it easy to install in existing coating plants. Numerous communications interfaces make it easy to integrate, and water-cooling additionally improves the generator's robustness. Contaminants cannot get into the machine and an auxiliary filter is not necessary.

HUETTINGER USA - expanded customer service at a new location

At Intersolar North America, visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about HUETTINGER's new location in the USA. In March 2010, the company moved from its East Coast headquarters in Farmington, Conn., to Santa Clara, Calif. - the heart of Silicon Valley and in direct proximity to its customers in the photovoltaic industry. The company has expanded its service options with the move. At the new location, HUETTINGER USA has built its own application lab where HUETTINGER service engineers can repair generators and thoroughly test them. "What we particularly like about the new location is that we have sufficient room to expand, because our main goal for the future is to increase our presence considerably in the American market," said Abraham.
