HÜTTINGER signs up to the "Wissensfabrik"
02/25/2011Hammering, drilling, sawing - noises all normally associated with skilled craftsmanship - will soon be heard from the classrooms of the Clara Grunwald Elementary School. This is because the elementary school - located in Freiburg's Rieselfeld district - has forged a training partnership with HÜTTINGER Elektronik within the context of the "Wissensfabrik - Unternehmen für Deutschland e.V.". As part of the partnership, HÜTTINGER Elektronik will be supplying the elementary school with materials and tools, designed to transform the children into technology enthusiasts.
Signing the cooperation contract
The cooperation contract was signed by the management of the Clara Grunwald School and the HÜTTINGER Elektronik management at the school on February 25, 2011. Within the context of the low-key celebrations, the materials and tool boxes were presented to a total of ten so-called family classes, in which students from grades three and four are collectively taught. In his speech, Dieter Pauschinger - CEO of HÜTTINGER - emphasized the importance of familiarizing children with technology at an early age. "People's fundamental interest in things manifests itself in their childhoods. Unfortunately, elementary school-aged children barely have any contact with technology. And this is where our project offers help: it enables children to become familiar with various materials and tools and to experience them - and not just to look at them, but to actually handle them as well."
Getting kids excited about technology
The training partnership between HÜTTINGER and the Freiburg elementary school is based on "KiTec - Kinder entdecken Technik" (Children Discover Technology), one of the beacon projects of the "Wissensfabrik". KiTec is designed to promote inquisitiveness and scientific curiosity among elementary school children. The schoolchildren will construct vehicles using the materials donated by HÜTTINGER Elektronik. During a subsequent visit to HÜTTINGER, the children will then be able to "electrify" their vehicles under the instruction of the company's trainees. This means that the vehicles can either be fitted with a flashing blue light or with a siren. This project allows the children to develop building and construction skills and to experience technical correlations.
“Wissensfabrik” – a powerful training initiative
